Our Objectives

Our participants develop the skills and charisma needed to inspire others. Our workshops include the following topics: Qualities of an good leader,  Effective Communication & leadership, Financial Planning, Healthy Leaders, OnTarget: College & Career Planning, Just Say NO: avoiding substance abuse, and many others.

 

Leadership Training

Our students learn to “Lead to Serve” and become involved in issues that  addresses society’s concerns.  They design and implement projects that will benefit your community. 

During the summer, previous students have raised over $600 profit from one fundraising event!

Civic Engagement

Dr. Catlin is a retired Dean who helps you make appropriate academic and social choices to enhance your college applications.  You will take practice ACT exams and get advice on college choices, essays, and scholarship searches

College planning & Career Choices

Each RYLPer is connected with a caring adult mentor who can help with academic, personal, and life situations.  You will also form bonds with youth mentors who can identify with your issues and discuss alternatives to solving them.

Educational & Fun Trips

You will experience different environments, cultures, and expand your world view.  Our trips have included: meeting the Mayor of Panama City and the Mayor of Apalachicola, a tour of Florida State University, a visit to the Old and New State Capitols, WMBB: Television Station in Panama City, Snorkeling in the Gulf Of Mexico, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City.

Peer Friendships

You will develop friendships with students from across the country that can last a lifetime.  Our participants constantly communicate with each other despite coming from varied parts of the country.
